Project 6

The thinking skill for project 6 is Evaluating and the topic I chose was the butterfly effect. What it is exactly is;  The butterfly effect serves as a metaphor for life in a chaotic world. Specifically, it suggests that small events can have very large effects.
Something about it is just so interesting and amazing but not? I’m not sure but I love it.
So LE PROCESS!!!!!!!!!!

SO. In this photo I roughly sketched a butterfly.
Obviously. I tried to make the focus be on the wings.

I added shading to the butterfly and darkened areas I wanted to be shaded on the wings.

I added some tree branches with pink (cherry blossoms?) flowers.

Here’s the finished product! I added color and pattern to the wings as well as some darker colors on certain scales.

Project 5: Idolization of Artists Thinking Skill: Compare/ Contrast

For my 5th project, I was having trouble thinking of something for this project because I was having trouble with what I could do that would fit with the thinking skill and I remembered that there are many people who are idolizing artists and bringing themselves down because their art style or art isn't "amazing" like their idol.  Inspiration is one thing but Idolization is something that is very, VERY toxic.

Before we get into anything i'd like to say I apologize if I don't explain correctly. Im not good at explaining things at all.

Okay so what exactly is so toxic about idolizing artists?
It can lead you astray and cause you to try to force yourself to fit with this character of your interpretation of your idol. That can end in you forcing yourself down a path you find absolutely no interest, blinded by the life that you think your idol leads!

You could or will end up overlooking all the things you're doing right, but of course, what exactly is right to you? You'll get hung up on the idea of how you think things should be, ignoring everything that's going great, or working great for you!

Instead of "helping" you learn, it can actually keep you from learning. The worst side effect, is that it makes it hard for you to keep an open mind. It's also important to be able to separate helpful criticism from bull poop because it can help change your perspective in ways that allow you to get where you want to be faster.

So in my drawing I drew this marble pillar and at the top is what everyone idolizes and how they see it as something or someone so bright and beautiful and amazing, maybe even godlike and try to reach for it to be just like it. I used many brushes from this diamond brush that you can see everywhere. I used my Light flare brush to add to the effect of how bright and beautiful the item or person is and how it lights up and shines and is above everyone. Sadly I couldn't find the sketches but if I do ill update and explain the process. Thank you for reading!

Project 4

First thing I did was roughly sketch out my idea. I know it looks like scribbles but trust me, its a sketch. Anyway, I added the other details such as the males's thoughts manifested, yelling or feeding into his insecurities, etc. I did erase one though, because it didnt seem to fit with the drawing so I erase it, duh. Afterwards, I added a new layer and lowered the opacity of the first layer and basically redrew/ did the lineart for the drawing and wanted to give the outline of the hair, a lighter color so it looked more pretty but it didnt so I added the black outline again. after adding all the color and attempting the shiny hair effect, I added a layer and lowered the opacity to 20 so when I colored everything with a dark purple, it would make it seem more dark, so it would fit in with the background. and thats basically it. I might've had a brain fart so, sorry if it doesn't really make sense but I'm very tired and I suck at explaining things as it is, so when I'm tired, I can't explain anything at all. well not that well anyway.

What exactly is mental health? WELL, according to https://www.mentalhealth.gov/basics/what-is-mental-health , mental health is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. I chose this topic and the thinking skill Analyzing Perspectives, because you never really know what someone might be feeling about themselves or what their going through, which is why I mainly focused on depression, which is usually characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing, impairment in daily life.  I actually think though, that my project piece could also be on schizophrenia since it shows the main person trying to block out the voices, if you see it as schizophrenia, or the main person trying to block out all the negative thoughts that could be able him, what he has done in the past, what he should have done, etc. I also added a dark background to try to emphasize that he's in a really negative state and obviously he doesn't want to be in such an awful state, but he can't help but feel that way. You might be wondering why I decided to make my project focus on this topic and my answer is to hopefully help others reach out to those who are or might be depressed. and not just depression, it can be for anything really. Everyone needs to know that they're cared about and that they're loved. Its not good to bottle everything up, so talking to someone is a very good idea.

I know some of my friends have depression and I let them know all the time that if they need someone to talk to, ill be there for them. Its really nice to know someones there for you. Also try to be patient with them, its hard to talk about things for some people.

Anyway, I think an artist I look up to and influences me or whatnot would be Rebecca Sugar, theres something about her art style and the thing she does with her drawings that I find so amazing.

I think its pretty obvious that I watch and love Steven Universe......

Now that you've seen everything and read my reasoning for choosing the topic and thinking skill ,which is basically why I chose the topic, do you think it fits the Analyzing Perspectives thinking skill?

Thanks for reading!

Project 4 Sketch practice and some research!

I was practicing drawing people crying or just sad or having some emotion and or expression since my topic is on mental health and I did forget to publish this and that the sketch was for school and I accidentally drew characters from Fullmetal Alchemist in the top left corner.....hehe sorry.

So what exactly IS mental health?
WELL mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It basically affects how we feel, think, and/or act. It determines how we handle stress, how we can relate to others,  and make choices. Mental health is very important no matter what stage of life you're currently in.

There are many warning signs including eating or sleeping too much or too little, pulling away from people and usual activities, having low or no energy, feeling numb or like nothing matters, having unexplained aches and pains, feeling hopeless or helpless, etc.

Project 4 Proposal

Hi! I was stumped but after some thinking and some really emotional moments the past couple of days,  I decided to make my topic be focused  on mental health and I think it'd fit the Analyzing perspectives Thinking skill a lot. It'd fit because most of the time, you might think someone is fine or happy but sometimes they're not and they haven't been for a while.

Project 3

For my project I decided to draw the white rhino who recently passed away and made the topic about Poaching (I'm against it just so you know) and my thinking skill is synthesizing because killing animals can affect our environment and can cause the extinction of many beautiful animals.

The white rhino is the second largest mammal in the world, after the elephant. Rhinos stand as tall as 1.8 meters (6 feet) and weigh over 2000 kilograms (2 tons). There was once over 30 species of rhino but now there is only 5 species and sadly they're all endangered.White rhinoceros are calmer and more sociable than other species of rhino, and they often live in small, territorial groups.
Females and juveniles are rarely ever alone. Rhinos can actually communicate using various sounds which includes grunts, growls, snorts, squeaks and bellows. They can't swim because of the hump on their back. Aw. Rhinos tend to live 35 to 40 years. Rhinos are actually Herbivores!

Ok so first I sketched out the rhino and the background and added some of the main details like the bushes behind the rhino and the distant lake and how it reflected light and the tree further from the lake. I also added the "wrinkles" on the rhino . Then I shaded areas where it was dark/ where light wasn't hitting the rhino or its environment.  I Also decided to darken the rhino a bit since it seemed to glow and it looked unnatural especially with the "dark" background and the colors used.

Rhino sketches (Practice) Project 3 progress

In this picture I'm practicing drawing Rhinos in different angles and added some level of detail so you can hopefully tell its a Rhino.
